2022 mra awareness ride
The Awareness Ride is an annual event, this year was the 34th. We start at Perth Roadhouse and with assistance of Tas Police ride through to the Metro corner (intersection of Hobart Road and Bathurst). Danny leads and I go tail end charlie whilst on a conference call with Dept of State Growth in Hobart. They have visibility from about halfway down the outlet hill so can see when the group is arriving at the above intersection. Once I confirm that the group is ready the lights go green, we have a green light corridor along Bathurst Street, Elizabeth Street, St John St, William St, Police assist at Seaport intersection and then green light all the way through to Forster Street.
From the ride through the city we continue on to Hillwood Football Club. We have food and beverages, live music, tradestalls, raffles, show and shine and this year a community market was also held, with a visit from Santa. People stay on for lunch and raffle draws etc and then go on to spend their afternoons heading off in various directions. Money raised is donated to charity, the money raised from this event is going to assist disadvantaged youth to gain their motorcycle license and purchase gear for them to ensure they are dressed safely, via Full Gear Motorcycle Safety Program.
